TACLOBAN CITY- A grand and majestic celebration of the Sangyaw Festival this coming June 29 is guaranteed as 11 major cities plus two big municipalities outside Tacloban City will be sending their own cultural contingents to join the festivities here.

Makati City’s Caracol Festival
The province of Bohol, known for its majestic chocolate hills and the cute and cuddly tarsier is once again hold its annual Sandugo Festival 2008. Sandugo Festival is a commemoration of Bohol’s local chieftain Datu Sikatuna’s allegiance to the Spanish Crown. The treaty was marked by a blood compact between the local chieftain Datu Sikatuna and the Spanish conqueror Miguel Lopez de Legazpi.
The official schedule of Kadayawan sa Dabaw 2008 is finally out! The Kadayawan Festival 2008 is considered as one of the biggest festivals in the Mindanao Region. The highlights of this Davao Festival is the streetdance competition known as the Indak Indak sa Kadalanan (which literally translates to street dancing) and the grand floral parade. Get the chance to see some of Mindanao’s biggest and most colorful festivals perform during the Indak Indak sa Kadalanan. Contingents to watch out for are the Bonok bonok Marajaw Karadjaw of Surigao City, The Diyandi Festival Contingent from Iligan City, The Lanzones Festival group from Camiguin, the Kaamulan Festival contingent fron Bukidnon, and the Halad Festival of Midsayap, North Cotabato. This year’s Kadayawan Festival 2008 highlight falls on August 23-24.

MANILA, May 16 (PNA) — The newest Philippine festival with a historical twist will unfold in Cavite, the country’s seat of independence.
In time for the coming Independence Day, the town of Imus in Cavite, will commemorate on May 24 the victory of the Battle of Alapan that paved way to the first Philippine Republic when the Philippine Flag was first unfurled on May 28, 1898.
