Covering Aliwan Fiesta is an adventure in itself. I arrived early at the Quirino Grandstand at around thirty minutes past noon. The sweltering heat of the midday sun is just so unbearable. Upon arriving at the assembly area, I hurried myself to the cafeteria right in front of the Manila Ocean Park for a quick cold refreshment. I had a glassful of icy cold ripe mango shake. Minutes later Nina arrived and she too ordered mango shake.
Last weekend, Nina of JustWandering.org and I strolled at the Paco Park. I know that this park was once used as a cemetery. In fact, one of the country’s most prolific citizen was, at once, buried here. It was my first time to actually set foot in this park. And just like a kid, I kind of feel giddy to be in this hallowed ground.
It’s not my first time in Intramuros. Definitely not. I have been to this historic walled city for a countless times already and for a various reasons, too. Press conferences, Festival Performances, Trade Fairs, hear mass, or just simply walk on the walls. Under the heat of the sun or braving the heavy down pour. Been there done that. But I went there again last Sunday.
